Thanks to know how acquired along years and to production premises equipped with high performance technology and tools, Nuova Sarm can process all types of steel, both basic and special steel.

All raw materials are provided with certificate of origin and are supplied by the best steelworks on the market: selected leading companies, with which we maintain ongoing business collaboration.

We have solutions for every type of steel

In particular our productive lines can process:

Carbon steels (C40 – C43 – C 45)

Moving from the low carbon to the higher carbon types, there is a considerable increase in strength accompanied however by a sharp decrease in toughness; therefore, the typese with a higher carboncontent are not recommended for parts subjects to impacts but are suitable where greater hardness and wear strength are required.

The C40, C45 types that represent a good compromise between the strength and toughness propeties are widely used.

Alloy steels

This sector includes different types of steel resulting from a mixture of alloying elements in different percentages. In other words, in these steels there are other elements, in addition to iron and carbon, such as manganese, nichel, chromium, molybdenum, and others that improve steel chemical-physical properties aimed to the specific use they are intended for.

Steel can be defined low alloy steel when no alloy element contents exceeds 5%; when at least one of them exceeds 5% the steel is defined high alloy steel.

Quenched and tempered steels (C45 – C40)

This kind of steel provides its best performances after quenching and tempering procedures that give the metal extreme hardness and toughness, properties that make it the ideal material for the toughest use.

Quenched and tempered steel is generally used to construct mechanical parts subject to static and dynamic loads.

Case hardening steels

Consisting in carbon enrichment of the part and subsequent hardening to obtain high leve surface hardness, with excellent wear strenght while the lowcarbon of the core promotes high leve toughness of the underlying mass.

This particular type of steel gives its best performance in the realization of mechanical parts that require strong surface hardness.
Case hardening steel, in fact, is used for the manufacture of gears, axles, cones, stud, pins, bushings, distribution and transmission shafts.

Nitriding steels (41CrAlMo7)

These are hardening and tempering steels (Carbon = 0.30% / 0.40%) containing alloys such as Al, Cr, Mo an V, able to form particularly hard nitrides; they are intended for the fabricatin of mechanical parts on which, once finished, a nitriding thermal treatment is carried out, i.e. surface hardening through obsorption of nitrogen, and which are then used directly in service without other machining except for precision finishing of active surfaces (grinding and smoothing).
